Samburu National Reserve

Unique wildlife species – Home to Samburu Special Five: Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx. Big Five sightings – Lions, leopards, elephants, and buffalo roam the reserve. Birdwatching paradise – Over 450 bird species, including striking raptors and waterbirds along the river. Scenic landscapes – Acacia woodlands, riverine forests, and semi-arid plains with dramatic sunsets. Cultural experiences – Visit local Samburu villages to learn about traditions, beadwork, and pastoralist life.

While open year-round, the best wildlife viewing is during dry seasons (June–October and Dec–March) when animals congregate around the Ewaso Ngi'iro River.

It is approximately a 5-hour drive from Nairobi, or a short flight to Samburu Airport.
